Re: Halt Demolition and Save the Samohi History Building

Dear SMMUSD School Board -

I am writing to ask that SMMUSD halt demolition and save the Samohi History Building!  It is iconic as WPA architecture and as Dawson High in Rebel Without a Cause.  Its placement atop Prospect Hill commands an ocean view with natural breezes that should be preserved for generations to come.  Not only does it cost more to demolish and replace with new construction, it is a terrible example to set for our society by failing to adaptively reuse it as a library and student center.  The greenest building is the one that’s already built.
